Welcome to Clarity Counselling Services

Me, Michaela Verby. Counsellor in Manchester.

About Me

My name is Michaela Verby, I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Manchester, UK.

Through my 8 years of experience working with mental health, I found that many people share a common desire: to feel clearer and more grounded during difficult times and in their day-to-day lives. So I founded Clarity Counselling to help people find the mental clarity they are seeking.

For me, clarity means being able to experience both your inner and outer world with a sense of trust in yourself. I have found that this comes from connecting with your authentic self and building compassion for all parts of who you are. This understanding is at the heart of my counselling and psychotherapy practice.

My style of therapy places you at the centre of our work, because despite my expertise, I believe that only you know what feels right for you. Together, we’ll discover this by working with your emotions from a place of curiosity and care. My aim is to help you heal from trauma, connect with who you truly are and develop new ways of being so you can live the life you want.

About
01.

I work one-to-one with people aged 16 years and older. We can meet remotely on any weekday, or you can come in for face-to-face counselling at my office in Sale on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Therapy usually begins with weekly sessions, giving us the consistency needed to build understanding and create meaningful change. As you start to notice shifts in your thoughts, feelings and everyday life, and those changes feel secure, we move to fortnightly sessions. We will continue working at this pace until the process starts to feel complete and you’re experiencing a stronger sense of self-trust. At that point, I usually suggest moving to monthly sessions, offering space to consolidate what you’ve gained and gently prepare for ending the work, when you feel ready.

02.

I specialise in working with grief and loss. Bereavement counselling offers a space that is entirely yours, where you can feel whatever arises without judgement or pressure. Grief can be strange, unpredictable and often quite frightening, and trying to make sense of it alone, or with those close to you, can feel especially hard.

Being with someone who can stay alongside you as you experience it all helps grief to feel more approachable. Together, we can gently witness and hold your experiences to allow the intensity of grief to soften over time. This process helps your grief to become something you gradually integrate into your life in a way that is meaningful for you.

03.

Myself and Justine Lea-Grime from JLG Therapy run seasonal CPD events for counsellors and psychotherapists. Each event provides an in-person, facilitative space for up to 8 people. For information about the theme of this season's event, please get in touch via the Contact tab above.

Thank you, I'll be in touch soon.

Michaela inspired me to keep going. I felt myself, I felt like I was whole again. She helped me pursue and achieve all my challenges and goals from my traumatic past. She taught me how to love my past. To give it a hug.
I had face to face counselling with Michaela over a period of several months. The room was comfortable and quiet . I found Michaela listened to and understood my difficulties with great perception and was very supportive and helpful throughout a difficult time. She helped me to validate my feelings and to help organise my thoughts and I came out feeling stronger and better armed to deal with a difficult situation. I would turn to her again if the need arose and would recommend her as a professional.
Michaela counselled me for acute anger issues and anxiety. Her counselling really helped me to settle and to feel calm. Michaela as a practitioner is calm and professional and her specific support and its impact on me has been positive and enduring.
